2011 projects
Mobile smartphone book

I'm working this summer on a book for www.Peachpit.com, covering the latest mobile smartphone shopping features and innovations. The book will discuss everything from creating a mobile site and building apps to tapping new mobile industry technologies and trends for growing an m-commerce business. The anticpated release is in October 2011.
2010 projects
Healthcare education website

Since late this fall, I have been consulting on healthcare content for www.Covidien.com. I have assisted the company's respiratory therapist experts in creating 60 pages of updated content for a new patient education site.
Covidien's medical ventilator products help serve respiratory healthcare needs in hospitals, long-term and alternate-care facilities, doctors’ offices, and private homes.
Social networking website
In helping create content for www.GirlAmbition.com, I have enjoyed providing kids with ways to appreciate and build their personal merit.
The age-appropriate and engaging content helps support a safe, upbeat site to share ideas, creativity, and dreams, while growing social skills and confidence.
'Tween girls can chat and message each other, play games, post photos, share polls, take quizzes, build group sites, and begin to pursue positive personal ambition.
Business book

I've been writing a book for www.Peachpit.com about how to launch a small business or non-profit organization.
The 200-page book will cover a broad range of topics, including: mission, plans, funding, hiring, legal, product/service development, customer acquisition/retention, budget, and growth.
Each section will also feature start-up checklists, tips, entrepreneur success stories, expert perspectives, and more.
Plans are for the book to go on sale in 2010.
2009 projects
Social shopping website
My consulting work with www.SmartyCard.com includes devising channel content for the first "learn to earn" kids' site.
Children ages 8-14 can earn SmartyCard credit by completing fun activities in science, reading, writing, math, social studies, and technology.
They can then use their credit to redeem online digital rewards for popular games, iTunes, e-books, and videos.
Mobile smartphone apps

I'm working this spring to help create a PayPal mobile app for Apple iPhone.
This effort will enable iPhone users to conduct auctions and checkout through eBay while completing a purchase with PayPal.
iPhone users - including teenage children with youth accounts - will also be able to make direct person-to-person exchanges, such as sending or requesting money.
Social networking website
In 2008, I have helped devise content strategy for www.Imbee.com, a fast-growing social networking site for young people.
In helping plan and compose various channel content - from user groups to multimedia to blogs - I have refit the site to better suit users with new material from major content partners, including National Geographic, Disney, and Girl Scouts.
As a content consultant, I have helped determine the site voice, style, and search capability.
2008 projects
Social networking website
As part of my work for eBay/PayPal, I have recently contributed content strategy to build PayPal transaction tools on Facebook for users to promote personal causes and raise money for their favorite charities.
Social shopping website
My role in producing global consumer content for www.eBay.com and www.PayPal.com
has allowed me to build material for new shopping channels. For example, I recently created content for eBay Green, a microsite featuring environmetally friendly products.
Healthcare education website
I have consulted this spring for Ion Global, a creative services agency based in San Francisco. I am helping
redesign the Fortune 500 medical products and services trade site Stryker.com.
I'm working to reorganize and reposition the global content so that the updated site info and tools will better serve the needs of three consitutents, including physicians, patients, and sales professionals.
Home decor magazine
The team at California Home Design magazine, published by www.HartleMedia.com, is now creating an online version of the magazine, and I am helping devise the print-to-Web content strategy, while working on a 20-point website prototype plan.
Website widgets
Since early 2008, I have been working to help develop content for "portable store" widget apps on Google and other social shopping sites.
Each store can be customized by small vendors to sell items to more new customers.
2007 projects
Regional news website
With the growth of grassroots social networking sites, I have begun to help produce a "citizens' journalism" site for www.Backfence.com. (The site name comes from the notion that folks share the most meaningful news with their neighbors "over the backfence.")
In managing the company's S.F. Bay Area sites (the company also has coverage in the Chicago and D.C. markets), I create channels for hyperlocal, user-opinion info, including postings of area news, sports, arts, entertainment, dining, shopping, business, politics, and events.
I have also enjoyed working with local experts who provide blogs on topics ranging from new technology to home decorating.
Social shopping magazine
This season, I have helped upgrade NetClearly, a monthly consumer’s guide to the Web, from a regional tabloid to a national magazine (also see www.NetClearly.com).
NetClearly shows promise for broad editorial interest by including hundreds of expert website reviews and ratings as well as in-depth features on Web shopping, entertainment, and information trends.
The NetClearly website will also launch a number of realted retailer micosites in various shopping catgeories in late 2007.
Custom seach engine
As a new venture for next year, I am begining work on the Web search tool www.Plutoz.com.
Now including more than 10,000 entries in its beta-stage directory, Plutoz will offer users lists of sites with a screen shot, editors' and users' reviews and ratings, as well as additional peer-to-peer "social shopping" exchanges.
The site will allow users to bypass typical genralized search lists with pre-selected seach topics from among their primary preferences.
News view magazine

Working with a marketing pro who helped promote Atlantic Monthy and Harper's magazines, I am now leading the editorial launch strategy and articles mix for The Ferret, an international news perspectives magazine.
The Ferret magazine remains a work in progress, but I have so far secured in-depth articles on issues involving global politics, religion, the environment, social justice, and personal rights from several top professors, business and organizational leaders, and social activisits.
Career book
When www.Entrepreneur.com asked popular business author Roy Blitzer to write a new book on HR development, he invited me to edit the manuscript.
Hire Me, Inc covers today’s evolving work patterns and career assessment tools. The publisher also plans two additional realted titles to make a series.
